The energetic midfielder who has just joined the Damaturu side is looking forward to relaunching his career with the club

Yobe Desert Stars’ Eugene Obi has disclosed that he is looking forward to re-establishing his career with his club after completing his switch from Nasarawa United.

The midfielder opined that he shares in the dream and aspirations of the Damaturu side and that when the head coach, Mohammed Babaganaru approached him to come and help the team he decided to give it a thought based on his past experience with him.

“It was a very difficult decision for me to take to decide to quit Nasarawa United for Yobe Stars but the decision was made easier because of the person involved in the negotiation,” Obi told Goal.

“I have high regard for coach Babaganaru and as soon as he made his intention known that he would like to work with me again, I didn’t give it so many thoughts because he is a coach I know very well and have worked with at different times in Kano Pillars and my last club.

“I am happy that everything about my move to the club had been completed and I can look forward to having a good time with them for the remaining part of the season. I want to contribute my part to ensure that we remain in the premier league at the end of the season.”

The former Kano Pillars midfielder also gave other reasons why he opted for Yobe Desert Stars instead of other clubs that showed serious interest in him during the just-concluded midseason transfer.

“I have worked with coach Babaganaru before and it was an easy decision asking others to stay clear as soon as I was approached by Yobe Stars,” he added.

“I also feel that I can contribute something positive to Yobe Stars after I was told about their plans for the remaining part of the season and what they also have in mind to do as soon as their participation in the league for next season is assured. I felt it was the right place to go for me.

“I also want to use my time with them to re-establish myself as a good player that is possible of attracting even a better deal elsewhere. I want to use the remaining part of the season to work towards that.”
