Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp vows they will be ready to face their old nemesis, Orlando Pirates, in an eagerly anticipated Premier Soccer League (PSL) encounter on Saturday afternoon.

"Starting on December 7, taking the team in a certain position, I don't believe with the number of games in front of us we can talk about what's possible and what's not,” Middendorp told the media.

Middendorp has only lost twice in the league to Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City, but he has recorded wins over SuperSport United, AmaZulu FC and Bidvest Wits so far.

"I think that's definitely not a situation where you can look forward to saying that this or that will happen. We will do everything in our power to be well prepared for the next game (against Pirates), and then we will see,” he added.

Chiefs have brought in Daniel Akpeyi from Chippa United with goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune out injured.

"I think we will see some other surprises, not only what happened with Sundowns losing at home or other teams playing a draw when nobody was expecting it, and it's good, very interesting to see,” said the Amakhosi boss.

"We are aware of our shortcomings. I think in certain departments we should and can do better," concluded the coach.

Having parted ways with coach Giovanni Solinas after losing twice to Pirates in the league and Telkom Knockout Cup this term, Middendorp will hope to secure the full three points on Saturday.

Amakhosi will be at home on Saturday and the encounter is expected to get underway at the iconic FNB Stadium at 15:30.
