El Kanemi Warriors’ Michael Ohanu has emphasized that their mission is to start the group stage of the 2018 Federation Cup on a winning note when they trade tackles with Enugu Rangers in the opening fixture on Monday in Kano.

The Borno Army eliminated Niger Tornadoes Feeders to get to the group stage and Ohanu disclosed that they are battle ready for the Flying Antelopes with the resolve to pick the maximum points at their expense.

He said they know that Rangers are equally good and a tough side but that the type of preparations they have had and the games they have played recently they are expecting a favourable outcome.

“We got to Kano peacefully and have prepared our bodies and minds to start the group stage impressively with a win against Rangers,” Ohanu told Goal.

“It won’t be an easy match because we are not expecting it. We have prepared for the three games and are optimistic that we are going to give a good account of ourselves. Rangers will come out and we are going to do the same but the ultimate is for us to start the group stage on a winning note.

“We are also going to take care of our other opponents Sunshine Stars and Supreme Court and ensure that our target to qualify from the Kano zone is intact from the beginning to the end. We believe we have the players and wherewithal to achieve our target.”

El Kanemi Warriors and Rangers have won seven Federation Cup titles between them with the Flying Antelopes ahead with five titles won in 1974, 1975, 1976, 1981 and 1983 while the Borno Army’s double victories in the competition came in 1991 and 1992 under late Shuaibu Amodu.
