Terengganu FC held Kedah to a 1-1 draw in their round 20 Malaysia Super League (MSL) match on Tuesday, a result that Turtles head coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim agreed was a fair outcome of the match.

In the match that was held at the Darul Aman Stadium, the hosts opened the scoring in the 44th minute through Baddrol Bakhtiar's goal. Kamal Azizi Zabri then scored the equaliser in the 62nd minute, when he pounced first on a rebound. Towards the end of the match Khairul Helmi Johari's header looked to have crossed the goal line to give Kedah the lead again, but referee Razlan Joffri Ali disallowed the goal and the match ended in a draw.

When interviewed by the broadcaster after the match, Irfan wryly noted his side's inability to win against Kedah. They last did it back in 2015.

"My team have not been unable to defeat Kedah, the best we could do so far is hold them to a draw. That's okay, tonight we drew against them after having gone behind," said the veteran head coach.

He also said that their gameplay changed in the second half, after the introduction of South Korean attacking midfielder Do Dong-hyun.

"I had to bring him on because we need to attack while we were trailing. He can run with the ball and has good ball control, and Ashari Samsudin who started in his place wasn't effective," explained Irfan.

As the match was the only round 20 encounter to be played on Tuesday, both Kedah and Terengganu have moved up one spot following the draw; Kedah to third place and Terengganu to fourth.
