Dennis Oliech and three others withdrawn from Gor Mahia squad for Angola trip

Gor Mahia striker Dennis Oliech will not travel to Angola for the second duel of the Caf Confederation Cup.

Goal can exclusively report that the former Harambee Stars captain has been withdrawn from the travelling squad after he failed to recover from injury and will be replaced by youngster Geoffrey Ochieng.

Also missing from the travelling contingent to face Petro Atletico of Angola is defender Wellington Ochieng, who is down with malaria, midfielder Ernest Wendo (knock) while Philemon Otieno and Jacques Tuyisenge are banned.

The absence of Oliech will surely be a huge blow for the Kenyan champions as the veteran striker was among the scorers when they hammered Zamalek of Egypt 4-2 in their Group D opener played in Nairobi just a week ago.

“We have been forced to make a few changes to the travelling squad. Dennis Oliech will not travel because he has failed to recover while right back Wellington Ochieng is down with malaria.

“We have also some sad news that Ernest Wendo will not make it while the other two Philemon and Tuyisenge are suspended. We have replaced Oliech with Geofrey Ochieng and the team will depart on Tuesday, using a direct flight to Luanda,” K’Ogalo CEO Omondi Aduda told Goal in an interview.

Gor Mahia will be seeking to get a win against the Angolan side, who lost their first match 2-1 to Hussein Dey of Algeria.
