The manager of the Spanish side says the club is yet to reach an agreement to hand the Ghana international a new deal

Interim Granada manager Tony Adams says the decision to extend Mubarak Wakaso's stay at the club is not entirely his to make.

The relegated La Liga outfit are desperate to have the on-loan Ghanaian in their fold in the quest to make an immediate return to the top tier next season.

Goal understands the midfielder is, however, not keen on renewing his deal, which expires at the end of the season, due to his desire to remain in the elite division.

“There’s teamwork here," Adams told pressmen.

"We’ve got a new sports director, he’s only been here for a couple of days and we’re delighted, I think we’ve done really well bringing Manuel [Salvador] in here.

"There’s not been one negative comment from anybody. I’m positive that we’ve got the right man to build the club with the rest of us.

"He needs to decide, DDMC [football club management company owned by Granada president John Jiang] needs to decide, we all need to decide and maybe the new head coach needs to decide on Wakaso taking up the option.

"The decision has not yet been made to be honest, at this moment in time."

Wakaso joined Granada from Greek outfit Panathinaikos on a half-season deal in January.

He has made 11 league appearances involving 10 starts for El Grana so far.

The 26-year-old, who has played for other Spanish outfits such as Villarreal and Elche, scored his only goal for Granada in a 2-1 win over Deportivo Alaves in March.
