Adamu Maje looked set to enhance their performance for a place in the national finals but Abba Jubril and Adamu Muhammed spoiled their determined attacking display, but their Zamfara based school capitalised on their toothless performance to cruise to victory.

KATSINA 1-0 SOKOTO

GSSS College, Sokoto lost their first game of the regional finals after bowing to Government Junior College, Katsina on Friday.

Coach Kabiru Hussien’s side could not consolidate on their 3-0 victory over Nagari College on Thursday as they coach Aminu Zainu’s team claimed vital three points in the race to the national finals.

Though GSS College dominated the ball, they lacked any verve or guile in the opening stages, and only a fine Aliyu Sani save from Ibrahim’s venomous half-volley denied them the lead 20 minutes in.

But for all GJC’s defensive talent, it was Aminu Sanusi who got the winner – no thanks to a momentarily loss of concentration by Enoch Nanyak’s anchored backline.

ZAMFARA 1-0 KEBBI

Impressive Sambo Secondary School chalked up a second consecutive Regional Finals victory to sit atop the log with six points as Hussein Wadatau’s goal was enough to beat Nagari College 1-0 on Friday.

Having lost scandalously in their first game, the Birin Kebbi side came with the ambition of putting their tournament back on track.

Sambo School appeared the more dangerous side in a match between two evenly matched teams with Usama Barau looking particularly threatening.

With this defeat, Nagari’s place in the National finals look completed thwarted with their remaining games on Saturday mere formalities.

SOKOTO 1-2 JIGAWA

The last game of the day produced three goals as Adamu Maje Junior School  edged GSSS Sokoto 2-1 at the Aminu Kano Commercial College.

Yahaya Adamu scored a double as AMJS  kept the pressure on other teams seeking for a ticket to Lagos, while Isiah Warita got the consolation goal for his side.

GSSS could not force an equaliser, though, falling to a defeat that keeps Sambo Secondary School involved in the National final race.
