The Ghana winger was the toast of fans on Saturday, hitting a hat-trick and assisting another goal as Fire registered a 4-0 victory over Orlando City in Major League Soccer.
The weekend exploit sees the attacker equal his best season goal tally of 10 goals for the Men in Red, although he has played eight matches less than he did in the landmark 2015 campaign.
“He has more support I think,” Paunovic said, as reported by his club's official website.
“And then on his side, I think he’s committed, he’s cleaner on the ball.
"When he has opportunities, he has more hunger to finish and Saturday was a perfect example of that.
“I think he understands very well how to play with the team that we have now and with the teammates he’s surrounded with.
"We just have to work to give David opportunities.
"If he’s always fit for the games, then we expect that performances like these will come even more.”
After joining Fire in 2015, Accam notched 10 goals in 24 appearances in his first season, before striking nine times in same number of matches last campaign.
In both seasons, he emerged the club's top scorer, also consecutively scooping the Player of the Season accolade.
