Gor Mahia are through to the semis of Super Cup after edging out Jeshi La Kujenga Uchumi of Zanzibar 3-0 on Saturday.

K’Ogalo overcame a nervous start to knock out the Zanzibar side at Afraha Stadium. Rwandan striker Meddie Kagere came off the bench to complete the work that was started by George Odhiambo before Godfrey Walusimbi made it 2-0 before the break.

Odhiambo had done correction for Ephraim Guikan whose first half penalty was saved by Abrahman Hamisi from a controversial penalty.

Odhiambo went down after a slight contact with JKU defender though TV replays showed that Suleiman Mwinjuma had gone for the ball. Guikan stepped forward, but his left foot execution was dealt with by Hamisi, who dived the right side to pull the save.

Odhiambo lobbed the ball into the net with his second touch after he received a nice pass form Francis Kahata. The former Azam midfielder pounced on a loose ball after a perfect pass from Kahata, who fooled JKU with his shot only to land on Odhiambo, who was unmarked.

Gor Mahia doubled their lead from a resultant free-kick taken by Cercidy Okeyo straight to Walusimbi, who fired a low shot past hapless Hamisi. Unlucky Guikan directed his header off the mark but Kagere once again made amends with a late diving header to make it three for K'Ogalo after he was fed well by a workaholic Innocent Wafula.

The semis line up will be completed when Kariobangi Sharks take on Simba SC of Tanzania with AFC Leopards squaring it out against Singida United.

The winner of the tournament will play Everton in England. Homeboyz beat highly rated Yanga by three goals to one at the same venue in an early kick-off match.
