City recently lost two of their key stars in Lehlohonolo Majoro and Aubrey Ngoma, but they are looking to boost their attacking options with Buchanan

Goal can exclusively reveal that Cape Town City are in pole position to land midfielder Keagan Buchanan from Kaizer Chiefs

According to a source within the Amakhosi camp, the two teams are in advanced talks for Buchanan to move to the Western Cape when the January transfer window opens.

"City and Chiefs are in advanced talks over Buchanan. As things stand, he looks set to join Benni's team," the source told Goal

The source added that the only thing left is for both City and Chiefs to finalize the details of the deal.

Chiefs have proposed a loan for Buchanan, while the Citizens are eager to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis.

"City wants to sign him permanently, but Chiefs are looking to loan him out with a view of having him back in the near future - that's what is being discussed right now. So, if they strike a deal, then he will move to Cape Town," concluded the source.

Buchanan, 26, joined Amakhosi at the start of the 2016/17 from Bloemfontein Celtic, but injuries saw him struggle to cement a place in Steve Komphela's match day squads.

Maritzburg United were also keen on the midfielder at the start of the campaign, but their offer was turned down as Chiefs told them that they intended to use Buchanan for the current campaign.

However, things have not gone according to plan, and after the first half of the season, Buchanan finds himself sitting on three appearances and a single assist for the Glamour Boys.
