Burnley and Southampton will both be looking to maintain their recent resurgence when they come face-to-face at Turf Moor in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

The Clarets have pulled four points clear of the relegation zone after winning three and losing none of their last five league matches, and became the first side to take points off Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United in midweek.

Latest odds

Nevertheless, they are priced as slight outsiders at 8/5 (2.60) with William Hill to extend their unbeaten streak with a fifth home win in six in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Ralph Hasenhuttl has guided his side to four wins and just two defeats in eight games, and he can be backed at 7/4 (2.75) to further endear himself to the travelling supporters with another victory over their fellow relegation candidates.

The sides shared a 0-0 draw in the reverse encounter on the opening day of the season, and you can get odds of 23/10 (3.30) on them cancelling each other out once again.

Team news

Robbie Brady could be in contention as he recovers from a groin strain, although Steven Defour, Aaron Lennon and Matt Lowton are all injury doubts.

Mario Lemina, Ryan Bertrand and Michael Obafemi are still not ready to start despite returning to training, while Charlie Austin will face a late fitness test and Maya Yoshida remains on international duty at the Asia Cup.

Goals at both ends

So much has changed since that goalless stalemate at St Mary’s in August that it is hard to see this game taking a similar shape.

While the Saints look far more enterprising since their change of boss, Sean Dyche has managed to oversee a similar transformation in fortunes recently himself.

After scoring more than once in just one of their 12 previous league games, Burnley have now done so four times in the last five matches - including against a Manchester United team that had let in only two goals in five fixtures.

Predictions

With Southampton having both scored and conceded in 10 of their last 11 fixtures, odds of 8/11 (1.73) look like solid value on Burnley helping to ensure goals at both ends for their fourth game in five.

Both teams to score for a 2.5pt stake at 8/11 (1.73) with William Hill
