The Seagulls make their Premier League debut on Saturday, but Chris Hughton's men could find the going tough against Pep Guardiola's charges

Brighton and Hove Albion kick off their Premier League campaign against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City

Chris Hughton's charges are making their Premier League debut, having secured automatic promotion from the Championship last term. The Seagulls missed out on the title in agonising fashion, losing their lead at the top of the table in the dying minutes of the season but, nevertheless, there will be an electric atmosphere inside Amex Stadium on Saturday evening.

The hosts can be backed at 17/2 (9.50) to start the season with a famous victory, while dabblebet go 4/1 (5.0) that the match remains all square at the end of 90 minutes. Manchester City are as short as 1/3 (1.34) to open their campaign with a win.

Brighton could barely face a tougher test on their return to the top tier - City are the ante post favourites at 7/4 (2.75) to take the title in Guardiola's second season at the club and the men from Manchester boast a squad packed with quality.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has brought in goalkeeper Ederson and defenders Danilo, Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker in an attempt to strengthen his side's defensive unit but it is in attack that City are particularly potent.

Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus are battling to establish themselves as Guardiola's main striker this season, while Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling are also in contention to line up against the Seagulls this weekend. City, too, may yet add even more quality in the final third of the pitch with the transfer window open for another three weeks.

Manchester City were free-scoring in the Premier League last season, notching 80 goals, and Guardiola's charges will be determined to lay down a significant marker against the Seagulls. 10/11 (1.91) is available that Manchester City lead at both half time and full time, with 17/20 (1.85) that the visitors win a match that features at least three goals.

Brighton, of course, will be fired up and ready for the big occasion and the hosts could come out of the traps quickly. There is 14/5 (3.80) that the Seagulls score the opening goal of the game, while Hughton's men can be backed at a chunky 13/2 (6.50) to hold a half time lead against the Premier League favourites.

Classy City, though, look like decent value to start their season with an emphatic victory and, while the 1/3 (1.34) quote for an away win is somewhat skinny, there may be value elsewhere in siding with Guardiola's men.

The even money (2.0) for the men from Manchester to win without conceding may well prove popular, but better value could lie in the 4/5 (1.80) quote for City (-1) in the handicap market ahead of Saturday's showdown.
