The Bluebirds were thumped 5-0 by Bournemouth last time out but our tipster expects far less goalmouth action at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night

Tuesday's punting spotlight is undoubtedly going to be on the Champions League but there's important top-flight action in England too as Brighton host Cardiff City.

This clash could have a huge impact on the relegation battle with the sides separated by just one place.

Chris Hughton's hosts have a five-point advantage over the Bluebirds but were hammered 5-0 by Bournemouth at the weekend. 888Sport go 19/20 (1.95) that they bounce back from that humbling defeat with a win here.

Cardiff will feel they've been unlucky in recent games. The Bluebirds were awarded a penalty against Burnley on Saturday before referee Mike Dean reversed that decision and the visitors were on the wrong end of a Chelsea goal that was clearly offside three games ago.

In desperate need of a victory to kick-start their chances of remaining in the division, Cardiff are 17/5 (3.80) underdogs while a draw is 9/4 (3.25) with the same firm.

Neither side come into this clash in prolific form - far from it. Brighton have drawn three consecutive blanks in the league while only Huddersfield Town (19) have a worse attacking record than the visitors' tally of 28 strikes this term.

With that in mind it's unsurprising that 888Sport offer just 4/7 (1.57) about under 2.5 goals while both teams to score is 21/20 (2.05).

What appears especially unlikely is early goalmouth action. 38 per cent of Brighton's home league games have been 0-0 at half-time while the same is true of 44% of Cardiff's games on the road. A goalless first half is 6/4 (2.50) and that appears worthy of some consideration.

While Cardiff may feel the need to force the issue in the later stages, Warnock's men are unlikely to be too aggressive in the early going as with most of their clashes away from home this season.

With that in mind, siding with a low-scoring first 45 minutes looks the best selection ahead of what could be another cagey clash at the Amex Stadium.

Half time correct score: 0-0 at 6/4 (2.50) for a 1pt stake with 888Sport
