Arda Turan has hit back at Turkey fans who booed him during their defeat to Spain and insists he has nothing to prove.

The Barcelona midfielder was loudly jeered in the second half of Turkey’s 3-0 loss which has left them bottom of Group D without a point.

Fans also chanted ‘Arda out’ towards the Turkey captain, but the 29-year-old has defended his performances for his country.

"I have nothing to prove," he said.

"I have worn this shirt more than 90 times and the times I've played badly can be counted on the fingers of one hand."
