Akwa United coach, Abdu Maikaba has hinted that their impressive start to the season has equipped them enough ahead of their Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round tie with Hawks FC of Gambia despite their lack of knowledge of the team.
The Promise Keepers will face the Gambians and the coach whose wards demolished Wikki Tourists 4-0 in their last match pointed out that his players are in the right frame of minds and mood ahead of the clash.
“We know that we do not have much information about our weekend opponents but the form we are in, in the league is enough for us to beat any team,” Maikaba told Goal.
"We are not going to underrate them but we want to take advantage of the home game to create a healthy lead before the return leg.
“We will be cautious with our approach and strive to take maximum use of the chances that will be created. I have told my players what to do and they are aware that we must to win well. We can’t afford to fail our fans and the owners of the club.
“Akwa United have become a bigger brand and we must do our utmost to sustain it. We expect a tough game against them and we won’t leave our goal area unprotected in our search to score as many goals as possible."
