Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has hinted Ghana winger Albert Adomah could be deployed in further advanced position after excelling in a 3-5-2 formation tested in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Burton Albion.

The 30-year-old was in fine form, capping it with a goal and an assist as the Claret and Blue Army registered a 4-0 triumph.

Ivorian international Jonathan Kodjia, Ritchie De Laet and Gary Gardner were the other men on target.

"He [Adomah] is a good player up there," Bruce said, as reported by his club's official website.

"He can play anywhere up there on that front line.

"You can see he’s cool in front of goal.

"He’s a good finisher. It’s something we can see."

The manager also revealed the new formation could be a thing to stay.

"We could do. We have done it twice," Bruce stated.

"The players we have got seem to be enjoying it so we will wait and see."

Coming into the new campaign, Adomah will be hoping to continue from where he left off last season.

In his most prolific term of senior football, the attacker netted 14 times in 42 Championship games involving 37 starts, finishing as the club's top scorer.

His good form has made him a transfer target for other clubs, with Premier League outfit Newcastle United and former side Middlesbrough reportedly after his signature.
