Greece side AEL Kalloni have signed former AFC Leopards winger Paul Were.
The top tier side confirmed through their official website that they have signed the Kenyan, whose last club assignment was for Amazulu FC in South Africa. The club wrote, “AEL Kalloni announces the start of cooperation with Kenyan footballer (Paul Were Ooko).
“We are happy that Were will bring experience to our team having played for several clubs in Kenyan league among them AFC Leopards and Tusker. He also played for Amazulu. We welcome him to our team and wish him good luck!”
Were returns to action after several months in the sidelines. The speedy winger made frantic efforts to sign for Kenyan champions Gor Mahia during the June transfer window but the move could not materialize after it emerged that his International Transfer Certiciate (ITC) was not ready.
When reached for comment by Goal Were said, “I am happy I finally have a team to call my home. It was not easy for me to continue staying out of active football despite being fit. I knew at one time I will get a club after Gor Mahia deal failed to go through. I thank God for the latest achievement and I promise to help my new club win titles.”
