Osundwa: Coach Minnaert should quit AFC Leopards

A top official at The Den accuses Belgian coach of running down the club and urges that he steps down or be sacked

A top official of AFC Leopards has asked coach Ivan Minnaert to resign or be sacked.

Speaking to Goal on Wednesday, club’s IMC secretary Moses Osundwa hit out at the Belgian for running down the club and urged that he steps down before the axe falls on him.

Osundwa blamed a few individuals for defending the coach whereas his work does not reflect why he was employed. “We hired the coach because we wanted positive results and as the IMC…we are very disappointed on what is happening.

“We are not impressed at all with his recent performances and more so his behavior. He has gone ahead to create divisions in the playing unit. He does not want to work closely with other technical bench members. He doesn’t want to see Jan Koops nor John Busolo.”

Osundwa added, “As much as he has a crowd of people defending him on social media, the result does not defend him. Coaches world over are dismissed based on performances. Look at Zamalek, Chelsea sacked Jose Mourinho. That is the trend and Minnaert should take same responsibility and resign.”

Osundwa said the club is held at hostage since Minnaert is not performing but is protected. “We have given him enough time to prove himself but nothing is improving. Those defending him should know that they will be answerable to fans at the end of the season.

“We were knocked out of KPL Top 8 and under his reign and have now gone for five matches without registering a win. Minnaert found the team performing and should leave before we act.”
