Gor Mahia Coach Zdravko Logarusic has outlined his plans to clinch the Tusker Premier League title after he missed it by a whisker last season.
The Croat in his first season in Kenyan soil won all the trophies K’Ogalo had lined up for apart from the league Title.
Needing only a win in their last match against Thika United on the final day of the season, Gor Mahia fluffed and were held to a one-all draw, with Tusker winning against City Stars to retain their title.
This year, the Croat is determined to break Gor Mahia’s 18-year wait for the title and his plan is to win at least 20 league matches, since 'most of the league winners in recent times achieve the fete slightly above 60 points."
“If we can win 20 matches, that is 60 points. I don’t care what happens to the remaining ten. Whether we draw or lose I don’t care. So far we have won three out of four matches, which is a good record. We have 17 more to go,” Logarusic told Goal.com.
Logarusic acknowledges that though it will be tough to achieve the dream, he has kept faith in his current squad to do the best.
“This year the league is very tough. Every team is coming out all guns blazing and there is none to be underrated."
"Teams like Thika, KCB, Sofapaka are stronger than last season. We can do it; it is very possible. But at the same time, we have to be very cautious and hard working."
He is happy the team managed to win against the bankers' despite the latter dominating the encounter.
“Football is very funny. Sometimes you don’t deserve to win, but you win all the same. I feel KCB played really well and had very good chances. The difference for us is that we had a little bit more individual brilliance in front of their goal and won the match."
Gor Mahia take on Sony Sugar in another league at City Stadium on Sunday.
