GOtv Shield: Modern Coast eliminates Magarini FC

Goalkeeper Said Dhadho was the hero for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League side as he saved two penalties to knock out Magarini FC

Flamboyant goalkeeper Said Dhadho stretched to the limit to save two penalties and enable Modern Coast Rangers eliminate Magarini during a GOtv Shield match played at Mombasa Stadium on Wednesday.

Rangers went offensive in the early stages but Jecoma Ogendo’s effort was saved by goalie Mohammed Abbas. Modern Coast new discovery Emannuel Onyancha sent the alarm bells ringing in 19th minute from a goalmouth melee.

Magarini made a substitution afterwards bringing in Ali Akida for Peter Mole. This proved to be a tactical masterstroke as Magarini were awarded a penalty five minutes to break after Hamisi Abdallah was tripped inside the box. Dazzling midfielder Mohammed Said stepped to converts the spot-kick.

Magarini resorted to time wasting tactics and goalkeeper Mohammed Abbas received a caution. During the penalty shootout, Rangers converted theirs through Leroy Buko, Ali Abubakar, Ali Kenga and Emannuel Onyanchi. Magarini’s marksman was Ali Akida while Hamisi Abdala and Michael Mataza had their shots blocked by goalkeeper Said Dhadho.
