Troubled AFC Leopards’ have sought for the availability of Belgium coach Luc Eymael to return to the den, Goal can exclusively reveal.
A top Ingwe official has confirmed that they have contacted Eymael to rejoin the club after the Belgian parted ways with Rwandese side Rayon Sports on Friday.
“We have contacted Eymael since Trevor Morgan will not be available until after second leg of Kenya Premier League and the response looks positive.
“Eymael is keen to return and complete the project he had initiated with this club and we have no option but re-employ him. We want to go for continuity now that most players’ understand Eymael’s style of play and seem to like his philosophies.
“He (Eymael) signed most of these players at the den and most of them want him back. We need a coach at AFC Leopards' and will consider the Belgian and this could be done before end of this week.”
When reached for comment, Eymael revealed that a top official at AFC Leopards’ spoke to him on Sunday for a possible return and admits he was ‘studying the offer’.
“It is very true that I spoke to an official on a possible return and like I had said before… I am open to offers and will be happy to work in Kenya again.
“I have already returned to Belgium after terminating my contract with Rayon Sports. We agreed to part ways and have received my full payments. I did not accomplish my mission at AFC Leopards’ and if this opportunity comes…I have no option but return to the den.”
Ingwe had settled for Briton Trevor Morgan to replace James Nandwa but the coach requested club to give him two weeks to attend another to offer in Spain.
