Uganda coach Micho lavishes praises on Sserunkuma

The Serbian tactician describes the Gor Mahia ace as of one the best strikers in the region after notching the winner against rivals Rwanda on Friday

Uganda Cranes Coach Milutin Sredejovic has lavished praises on Gor Mahia striker Dan Sserunkuma after the latter scored an 89th minute goal that gifted the champions a 1-0 win over rivals Rwanda on Friday.

The tactician has described Sserunkuma as one of the best strikers in the region. “He is definitely one of the best strikers we have in this region and seeing how he played today (Friday), I am happy with his performance.

“He (Sserunkuma) never had much time in the World Cup qualifiers or the Chan African Cup qualifiers for Uganda but I now assure him that with this kind of performance, he has won himself a starting place in the senior team,” Micho told Goal.

Micho, as he is fondly referred, was happy with the result but had worries on how his team played.

“I am happy with the result but not with the game. We never clicked especially in midfield but you can forgive them because a player like Geoffrey Kizito who is our main midfielder has stayed for long without playing competitive football.

“I am hoping that we can improve in the next game and win to qualify for the quarter-finals. This is a young developmental side which I am grooming for Chan competition and we have to grow step by step.”
