Kenya striker Murunga delighted at debut goal against Malawi

Murunga, who got his first major goal in two appearances for Kenya in the 2-2 draw against the Flames, says he has what it takes to take up scoring mantle

Karuturi Sports striker Andrew Murunga the scorer of Harambee Stars first goal against Malawi, has talked about his delight in notching the team's opener.

Murunga, who got his first major goal in two appearances for Kenya in the 2-2 draw against the Flames in Blantyre on Wednesday in a 2014 World Cup qualifier, said on Friday the team did not get discouraged even after conceding the first goal.

"We wanted to get a good result away and were doing everything possible not to concede a goal but when they scored we pushed our self up and went out to look for the equalizer.

"Personally, I am delighted for scoring my first goal for the national team and I thank coach Adel Amrouche for making me believe in myself," Murunga said.

Asked whether he can take up the scoring mantle, Murunga said he has what it takes to do just that but insisted that he will need the support of the rest of the team.

"Everything is possible and I am psyched up to take up the mantle as the lead scorer. However, I will need the support of the technical bench and other players to achieve this," said Murunga.
