At the Bangalore Football Stadium, Bengaluru FC ‘B’ routed Chennaiyin FC reserves 6-1 to move up to the second position in Group C. Parag Shrivas scored a brilliant hat-trick (4’, 44’, 68’) to guide the Blues to glory in this crucial tie.

The other three goals for Bengaluru were scored by Lalengzama Vangchhia (49’), Naorem Roshan Singh (55’) and Lalrintluanga Chawnglut (57’). Prosenjit Chakraborty scored the solitary goal for the away side (77’).

Bengaluru FC dominated proceedings right from the kick-off. Parag broke the deadlock early in the match. A cross from Nishu Kumar was received by Lalengzama inside the box and he passed it to Shrivas who slotted the ball home.

Parag then doubled the lead at the stroke of half-time by converting a header of Namgyal Bhutia’s cross from the left.

Bengaluru scored three more goals within first 10 minutes of second half. Lalengzama scored the third goal of the game in the 47th minute. The fourth one was a result of Chennaiyin’s defensive lapse which was capitalised by Roshan who found the back of the net from a close range inside the box. Chawnglut netted the fifth goal from Parag’s pass.

Shrivas completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute from Namgyal cross from the right flank. He received the ball inside the box and found the back of the net with a quality shot.

Prosenjit Chakraborty scored the only goal for Chennaiyin in the 77th minute. Chennaiyin remain at the last position in the group and they are well and out of the competition.

At Barasat Stadium, Mohammedan Sporting suffered yet another blow as they went down 1-3 against group toppers TRAU FC.

Malemnganba Meitei (38’), Princewell Emeka (49’), and Ngangbam Naocha (89’) scored to confirm full points for their club. Rahul Jaiswal scored the consolation goal for the Kolkata giants.

With this defeat, Mohammedan Sporting are almost of the competition as they have very sleek chances of making it to the next round. They now have nine points from as many matches.
