Belgium v Tunisia: How Eden Hazard is steering World Cup dark horses to success

Belgium v Tunisia
The Chelsea midfielder has quickly shown the impact he can have as a leader in Russia

On paper, Belgium easily boast one of the strongest national teams. On the pitch however, they've failed to make it count at major tournaments and it's a fact they're desperate to rectify at the 2018 World Cup.

After a 3-0 win over Panama, the dark horses in Russia have started off with a gallop and will look to Tunisia as an ideal opponent to pick up pace against.

Belgium's captain Eden Hazard is the proverbial jockey at this World Cup and showed he knows how to get the most out of his side against Panama.

After a goalless first half in Sochi, Hazard revealed he took star striker Romelu Lukaku aside to tell him he was 'hiding away' up front.

It was a pep talk that worked wonders with the Manchester United front man turning it on in the second 45 minutes as he bagged two goals.

"Once he got involved in the game, as if by magic, he scored two goals," Hazard said.

"I hope he will understand. He did not have a bad game."

Hazard may be known more for the midfield magic he produces, but the Chelsea man has quickly shown his importance as a leader in Russia.

After Hazard's pump up, the Belgians scored all three of their goals in the second half against Panama to continue a trend that's seen their past eleven World Cups goals all come after the interval.

A fast start is what Belgium will be after against Tunisia, who fell 2-1 to England in their opener after an injury-time strike from Harry Kane.

Tunisia have now failed to win their past 12 World Cup games - the second longest barren run at the tournament since South Korea between 1954 and 1998.

Up against a Belgium side unbeaten in their past 10 World Cup group games, it's hard to see Tunisia pulling off an upset, particularly with Hazard showing the influence he can have with and without the ball.
