Commentary

Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, goodbye.
Leicester face Manchester United at Old Trafford next, while Newcastle host Manchester City.
There goes the full-time whistle! Newcastle established a commanding 4-0 lead after goals from Willock, Dummett and a brace from Wilson, but Leicester scored twice in the final 10 minutes through Albrighton and Iheanacho as the Foxes searched for a dramatic comeback. The damage was done, however, and Newcastle's safety is now all-but assured as they open up a 12-point gap on the relegation zone. It finishes 4-2 to Newcastle!
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: LEICESTER CITY 2-4 NEWCASTLE UNITED
90' + 3' Shelvey clatters a shot at goal from outside the box that is blocked behind for a corner. Newcastle will look to run the clock down from here.
90' + 1' SAVE! Leicester could have had a third! Thomas nods towards goal from a right-wing cross and it bounces into the path of Perez, but Dubravka makes himself big and saves from point-blank range! It comes back into the middle again and Vardy tries to head in from the back post, but he steers it over the bar!
90' Iheanacho is the only player in double figures for Premier League goals since the start of February (11).
J. Hendrick
M. Almirón
Newcastle United
88' Bruce makes a late change of his own as he seeks to hold on to the result now, with Almiron replaced by Hendrick in midfield.
Ayoze Pérez
Assist
Leicester City
87' Perez took down a high ball in the centre with composure and got the ball out to Iheanacho in space quickly, allowing the striker to run at the disorganised Newcastle defence.
K. Iheanacho
Goal
Leicester City
87' GOAL!!! IHEANACHO GRABS A SECOND FOR LEICESTER!! The striker is fed out on the right by Perez and he cuts inside before cleverly steering a low shot inside the near post, leaving Dubravka rooted to the spot! It's 4-2 now!
Joelinton
A. Saint-Maximin
Newcastle United
84' Bruce makes a late change in attack now, bringing Saint-Maximin off for Joelinton in support of Wilson.
83' WIDE! Vardy cuts inside from the left and tries to curl one into the top corner from the edge of the box, but he can't quite get the bend he wants on it and it sails just past the post!
J. Vardy
Assist
Leicester City
80' Vardy received the ball from Thomas on the left side of the box and resisted the temptation to shoot from an unlikely angle, instead laying off for Albrighton to smash home.
M. Albrighton
Goal
Leicester City
80' GOAL!!! WHAT A HIT FROM ALBRIGHTON! Vardy's square ball from inside the box is dummied by Iheanacho and Albrighton thunders a strike into the top-right corner! It's unlikely to affect the result, but it was a terrific effort nonetheless. It's 4-1 now!
N. Mendy
J. Maddison
Leicester City
77' Rodgers, meanwhile, brings Maddison off for the more defensive Mendy in midfield as the Leicester boss looks to do some damage control.
S. Longstaff
J. Willock
Newcastle United
77' Willock went down holding his hamstring and, with the game wrapped up, Bruce takes no chances and replaces the Arsenal loanee with Longstaff in midfield.
75' Newcastle have scored four goals in a Premier League away game against a side starting the day in the top three for the first time since December 2001 against Leeds United, a 4-3 win.
C. Wilson
Goal
Newcastle United
73' GOAL!!! WILSON MAKES IT FOUR!!! Wilson gets in behind the Leicester defence yet again and opens his body up before curling a shot towards the far corner. It comes off the post, but ricochets straight back to him and the striker can simply tap the rebound into an empty net from a tight angle! It's 4-0 to Newcastle now!
K. Iheanacho
Yellow Card
Leicester City
72' Iheanacho slides in very recklessly on Almiron and gets a deserved yellow card for his poor challenge.
L. Thomas
Ricardo Pereira
Leicester City
69' Rodgers makes a second change now, replacing Pereira with Thomas and adding a naturally left-footed player at wing-back.
68' SAVE! Albrighton gets down the right and cuts back to Perez on the right sid of the box. The Leicester substitute hits a first-time effort towards the top corner, but Dubravka gets across well to palm it aside!
66' This is the second time this season that Leicester have trailed by three goals at home in the Premier League (a 3-0 loss against West Ham in October).
C. Wilson
Goal
Newcastle United
64' GOAL!!! WILSON MAKES IT 3-0 TO NEWCASTLE!!! Leicester are caught very high up the field and Castagne can't cut out a ball in behind for Wilson, who races into the box unopposed and draws Schmeichel out before rounding him and slotting into an empty net!
Ayoze Pérez
W. Ndidi
Leicester City
63' Rodgers makes a bold substitution now, replacing a defensive midfielder in Ndidi with an extra forward in Perez.
61' Newcastle have done a good job of stemming the tide and have managed to slow the game down, preventing Leicester from building momentum.
59' Leicester look more in control of the game than they did in the first 45 minutes, but they seem to be threatening more from set-pieces than open play.
E. Krafth
Yellow Card
Newcastle United
56' Krafth slides in on Vardy as the Leicester striker charges towards the box and misses the ball, earning himself a yellow card.
55' WIDE! The corner is floated to the back post where Ndidi rises highest to head at goal, but he can't direct it inside the post and nods wide!
54' CLOSE! Maddison steps up to a free-kick and tries to fire it over the wall and into the top-left corner, but it takes a little nick off the top of the wall and flies just wide of the post!
52' Ndidi attempts a cross from the left side of the box that takes a deflection and loops towards goal, but Dubravka is alert to the danger and comfortably collects the ball.
50' Murphy bombs forward down the right and whips a low cross into the middle, but Schmeichel is sharply off his line to collect the cross ahead of Wilson.
48' OVER! Iheanacho dinks a ball into the box where Maddison meets it and attempts to flick a header in, but it loops up and lands on the roof of the net!
46' We're back underway for the second half!
Leicester have it all to do in the second half now. They weren't clinical enough with the chances they made and were regularly caught out on the break by Newcastle, whose game-plan has come off as well as they could have hoped. Rodgers will not be pleased with how the hosts performed in the first half and will surely demand a response in the second period.
There goes the half-time whistle! Soyuncu's mistake allowed Willock to nick the ball and give Newcastle the lead, before Dummett added to the visitors' tally by powering Ritchie's corner in despite a touch from Schmeichel. Leicester have had chances of their own, but haven't been able to make the most of them. It's 2-0 to Newcastle at the break!
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: LEICESTER CITY 0-2 NEWCASTLE UNITED
44' SAVE! Vardy pounces on a ball over the top and beats Fernandez to it before attempting to lob the onrushing Dubravka, but the goalkeeper stands tall and makes a crucial save!
42' Newcastle win a couple of corners in quick succession as they continue to put pressure on Leicester, but they can't make the most of them this time and the hosts get the ball away.
40' Dummett has scored his third goal in his 140th Premier League appearance and his first since January 2016 against Manchester United. All three of his goals have come against sides starting the day in the top five positions in the table.
38' Newcastle launch another counter-attack and Wilson gets to the edge of the box with the ball at his feet. He checks onto his right and tries to steer a low effort at goal, but it's blocked harmlessly away.
36' SAVE! Albrighton gets down the left and drills a low cross into the box that Vardy dummies, allowing Iheanacho to sweep at goal behind him, but Dubravka is alert and gets across to make a fine save!
M. Ritchie
Assist
Newcastle United
34' Ritchie's delivery from the right was superb and had plenty of pace for Dummett to utilise as he redirected it at goal.
P. Dummett
Goal
Newcastle United
34' GOAL!!! NEWCASTLE DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!! Ritchie swings a corner to the back post and Dummett out-jumps Fofana to meet it and power a header at goal that Schmeichel can only palm into the net! It's 2-0 to Newcastle now!
32' NO PENALTY! Castagne goes sliding in on Almiron in the box as the Newcastle man hit the byline, but the referee says it's a fair challenge and awards the corner!
31' Saint-Maximin cuts in from the left and wriggles into space before trying to curl a low effort into the far corner, but he sends it well wide on this occasion.
29' Newcastle are winning every duel at the moment. They look stronger and hungrier than Leicester right now and pose a significant threat on the break.
27' Willock is the first Newcastle player to score in four consecutive Premier League appearances since Papiss Cisse in April 2012 (six games), while at 21 years of age he's overtaken Andy Cole as the youngest player to do so for the club.
25' SAVE! What a chance for Leicester! Tielemans delivers a delightful ball from the right that Fofana towers above the crowd to meet, but his powerful downward header is too central and Dubravka makes a fine save from close range!
24' BLOCK! A corner comes out to Maddison on the edge of the box and he lashes it viciously at goal, but the box is packed with bodies and it's blocked away!
J. Willock
Goal
Newcastle United
22' GOAL!!! NEWCASTLE TAKE THE LEAD!!! Soyuncu loses concentration for a moment and fails to properly control a low ball forward, allowing Willock to pounce on it and drive into the box before steering an effort across goal and in from a tight angle! It's 1-0 to Newcastle!
20' Newcastle are looking to exploit Leicester's high line whenever they have the chance, but, on this occasion, the flag goes up against Wilson from Dummett's attempted pass.
18' Newcastle have already had four shots, only one fewer than they managed in 90 minutes against Arsenal last time out.
16' SAVE! HOW ARE NEWCASTLE NOT IN FRONT?! Leicester are caught too high and a simple ball in behind allows Wilson to race through with Saint-Maximin in support. The striker squares for Saint-Maximin, but Schmeichel comes out and closes the angle superbly, saving the Newcastle forward's low effort across goal with an outstretched leg!
14' CLOSE! Shelvey curls a free-kick in from the left and Fernandez gets his head to it in the box, but he can only glance his effort agonisingly wide of the far post!
12' Vardy powers past his man on the left and hits the byline before cutting back towards Iheanacho in the box, but the whistle goes as the ball had just gone out of play.
10' NO PENALTY! Wilson dances past Soyuncu after a couple of step-overs and the Leicester defender leaves a leg trailing and trips the striker, who goes down. Wilson wants a spot-kick, but the foul was right on the edge of the box and it's a free-kick instead!
8' Newcastle launch their first attack of the game as Willock bursts forward from midfield, but he can't quite keep control of the ball as he charges into the box and it's seen behind for a goal-kick.
6' SAVE! Maddison plays another give-and-go with Albrighton and gets to the edge of the box on the left before drilling a low shot at goal, but he doesn't get the power or placement he's looking for and Dubravka makes the save!
5' OVER! Maddison plays a one-two with Albrighton out on the left before cutting inside and whipping a cross to the back post. Tielemans climbs to meet it, but he has his back to goal and can only flick his header over the bar!
3' Evans' injury in the warm-up has prompted a last-minute reshuffle for Leicester. Castagne is now playing on the right of the back three, with Albrighton taking his place at left wing-back.
1' We're underway at the King Power Stadium!
Since they were promoted back to the Premier League in 2017, Newcastle have won two of their three away league games against Leicester, though they did lose this exact fixture 5-0 last season.
Leicester have won back-to-back home league games for the second time in 2021, having done so just once in the whole of 2020. However, the Foxes haven’t managed more than two consecutive home league wins since December 2019 (a run of seven).
Meanwhile, Newcastle manager Steve Bruce makes two alterations to the team that were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal in their last outing. Willock starts after being unavailable to play against his parent club, with Krafth also coming into the team. Clark and Longstaff drop to the bench. Jamaal Lascelles, Ryan Fraser, Karl Darlow and Isaac Hayden are out injured, while Fabian Schar is suspended after his late sending-off against the Gunners.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers makes two changes after his side drew 1-1 with Southampton last time out. Thomas drops to the bench and is replaced with Pereira, while Jonny Evans limps off during the warm-up, meaning Albrighton starts in his stead. James Justin, Harvey Barnes and Wes Morgan are all ruled out through injury.
Newcastle United substitutes: Dwight Gayle, Ciaran Clark, Sean Longstaff, Andy Carroll, Mark Gillespie, Jamal Lewis, Joelinton, Jeff Hendrick, Javier Manquillo.
Newcastle United XI (3-5-2): Martin Dubravka; Emil Krafth, Federico Fernandez, Paul Dummett; Jacob Murphy, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey, Miguel Almiron, Matt Ritchie; Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin.
Leicester City substitutes: Hamza Choudhury, Cengiz Under, Ayoze Perez, Dennis Praet, Nampalys Mendy, Daniel Amartey, Luke Thomas, Danny Ward.
Leicester City XI (3-4-1-2): Kasper Schmeichel; Timothy Castagne, Wesley Fofana, Caglar Soyuncu; Ricardo Pereira, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, Marc Albrighton; James Maddison; Kelechi Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy.
A win for Newcastle tonight would see the Magpies move 12 points clear of the relegation zone and within touching distance of safety. They come up against third-placed Leicester, however, who will be keen to finish the season strongly and stay in the Champions League places, with fifth-placed West Ham only five points behind them.
