Eddie Howe will be pleased with what he has seen from his side so far in the game. Newcastle have been solid enough at the back and lively on the counter. The Magpies cannot afford to rest on their laurels as the Gunners were beginning to pick up the pace towards the end of the half. Another stoic 45 minutes is required.
It's goalless at the break between Arsenal and Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium. The Magpies were the first to threaten as Jonjo Shelvey brought out a brilliant stop from Aaron Ramsdale. However, the Gunners should have taken the lead at the other end as Emile Smith Rowe saw a close-range header saved and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang conspired to smash the rebound off the post from six yards. 4' Saka tries to break into the right-inside channel to put Schar under pressure, but the winger is penalised for handball as he battles for a ball over the top.
1' Joelinton has an early probe at the Arsenal defence down the left flank, but as he breaks into the box White edges him out and then wins a free-kick.
1' We're under way at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal have won 16 of their last 17 Premier League games against Newcastle, with the exception being a 2-1 away loss in April 2018.
Newcastle have made three changes to their side that drew with Brentford last time out. Dubravka reclaims the keeper position between the posts, ousting Darlow who drops to the bench. Clark and Murphy also make way from the starting line-up to the sideline as Krafth and Fraser get the nod.
Arsenal have made only one change to their side from their defeat to Liverpool. Lacazette makes way from the starting line-up to the bench and is replaced by Odegaard. Aubameyang continues to lead the line supported by Smith Rowe, Saka and Odegaard.
NEWCASTLE SUBS: Ciaran Clark, Jamal Lewis, Isaac Hayden, Jeff Hendrick, Javier Manquillo, Jacob Murphy, Miguel Almiron, Karl Darlow, Sean Longstaff.
NEWCASTLE (3-4-3): Martin Dubrakva; Emil Krafth, Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles; Ryan Fraser, Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Ritchie; Joelinton, Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Eddie Howe finally gets to grace the sideline as Newcastle manager after being forced to miss his first game in charge. Howe contracted Covid-19 last week and was forced to isolate for 10 days, which included the Magpies' 3-3 draw against Brentford. Newcastle showed belief to battle back from two deficits to claim a point, but sooner or later the Tynesiders are going to have to pick up wins. They've endured their worst start to a Premier League season, but a victory today could kickstart a road to recovery.
Arsenal had their momentum checked by Liverpool, suffering a 4-0 hammering at Anfield. The Gunners had reeled an impressive 10-match unbeaten run in all competitions, including three victories on the bounce in the Premier League heading into the game against the Reds. However, they were blown away by the quality of Jurgen Klopp's men. Mikel Arteta needs to galvanise his side and there is a good opportunity to get back to winning ways against the struggling Magpies.
Hello and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Arsenal and Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium.
