Wrexham star James McClean issues update after horror car crash and blasts 'smelly scruffy pathetic creatures' who messaged his wife

The former Republic of Ireland international escaped serious injury when writing off his Audi in inclement weather conditions. He was able to walk away from the incident and led the Red Dragons out as captain as they faced Birmingham at SToK Racecourse.

McClean played the full 90 minutes in North Wales as Phil Parkinson’s side took a point from their latest ‘Hollywood Derby’ date with League One promotion rivals. After the game, the 35-year-old addressed a scary moment in his personal life.

McClean thanked those that have passed on messages of support, but took aim at sick individuals who found pleasure in his pain. The Irishman posted on Instagram: “Now that the game’s out of the way, to address yesterday, an experience I never wish to encounter again.

“I am blessed and thankful I managed to walk away with minor injuries and return home to my family, tho much to the disappointment of some smelly scruffy pathetic creatures that messaged my wife online. Thank you for the messages of support.”

McClean refuses to bite his tongue when it comes to statements on online, having recently branded Shrewsbury “an absolute cesspit full of inbreds” following a derby clash that saw him face more abuse from the stands.
