  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The English champions are expected to sign the 19-year-old from French side Troyes, who are also owned by City Football Group. However, it is not yet known what fee City will pay for Savinho, and The Telegraph claims the Premier League will review the deal for fair market value.

    THE EXPLANATION

Savinho is currently on loan at Girona, another CFG-owned club, and has attracted bids from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs worth a reported £25 million ($31m). City are preparing to finalise a deal for the Brazilian but the English league authorities will have to value him to make sure the transfer is a fair one. According to Relevo, City will buy him from Troyes and loan him back to Girona for the 2024-25 season if they qualify for the Champions League.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Savinho has made 23 league appearances for Girona since joining the Spanish club on loan for the season, helping them to second in La Liga with five goals and seven assists. He joined Ligue 2 team Troyes in 2022 as their record signing but was immediately sent on loan to PSV and then Girona and has not played for the French club.

    WHAT NEXT FOR SAVINHO?

The attacker will hope to keep impressing with Girona amid their surprise challenge for the Spanish league title against Real Madrid. He will then likely complete a move to City in the summer should the deal be approved by the Premier League.
