    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Earthy was brought on by Hammers boss David Moyes after 82 minutes of Sunday's home defeat to Fulham. But it was only moments later that the teenager collided with team-mate Edson Alvarez and lost consciousness after hitting his head on the ground. He was treated at length on the pitch, which included being given oxygen, before being stretchered off - much to the concern of all those inside the London Stadium.

  • WHAT WEST HAM SAID

In a club statement, West Ham said: "Earthy will now follow FA and Premier League concussion guidelines ahead of his return to play. West Ham United wishes to place on record its thanks to our own medical team, as well as their counterparts at Fulham and Medics24, our pitchside rescue team, for the immediate response to yesterday’s incident. The club also extends its thanks for the many messages of support sent to George. Everyone at West Ham United wishes George a safe and speedy recovery."

WHAT NEXT FOR EARTHY & WEST HAM?

Earthy's health and wellbeing are the most important thing as he recovers from the nasty head injury. Once he is declared fit to play, the youngster will hope to add to his burgeoning first-team experience, having previously been briefly involved in a Europa League clash with Freiburg last month and a regular in the Premier League matchday squad since February. He more than likely won't be available for selection against Bayer Leverkusen this Thursday, but the Hammers have upcoming games against Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Chelsea over the next three weeks.
