    The 23-year-old, playing at left wing-back, could not believe he had been handed the Man of the Match trophy as he left the field and struggled to hold his emotions together. The Spaniard, who came through Atletico's academy, was in complete disbelief after being presented with the trophy on the touchline. The club's social media team posted a heartwarming video of Riquelme's reaction to being given the award.

    After being presented with the trophy, a stunned Riquelme said: "You are teasing me. Seriously? I can't believe it. Is this serious?

    "This is very special for me because I have been fighting for a long time to be able to play here, at Atletico Madrid, the club of my life.

    "For me this is everything."

    Riquelme helped Atletico secure their 3-1 victory which meant they guaranteed qualification from their Champions League group. In winning the Man of the Match award, Riquelme becomes yet another Atletico academy graduate to stamp their mark on the tournament. Riquleme will be looking to follow the likes of Fernando Torres, Saul Niguez and Koke into Atletico folklore.

    Atletico travel to Barcelona on Sunday in a heavyweight clash at the top of La Liga. Atletico and Barcelona sit third and fourth respectively, both on 31 points. Riquelme's side are four points off their city rivals, Real Madrid, with a game in hand and will hope victory away at Barcelona will help them mount a title charge.
