The Wagatha Christie derby! Wayne Rooney trolled by Leicester fans in Jamie Vardy masks as Birmingham boss hit with savage ‘sacked in the morning’ chants after yet another loss

The Foxes were at St Andrew’s on Monday for a game that allowed them to cement their standing at the top of the English second tier table. Rooney saw his Birmingham side slip to another defeat, with the Blues eventually going down 3-2 on home soil.

Before a ball was kicked in the West Midlands, visiting supporters were spotted arriving at the game in Vardy masks. They were offering a nod to the infamous court case involving Vardy’s wife Rebekah and Rooney’s partner Coleen – which eventually saw the latter prevail in a libel lawsuit.

Rooney, who is now working with NFL legend Tom Brady after seeing the seven-time Super Bowl winner invest in Birmingham, claims to have never enjoyed a friendship with Vardy despite the pair once forming part of the same international set-up. The Manchester United legend has said: “I played with him for England, but I played with many players for England. It's not someone who I've ever had a relationship with, outside of being in a training camp or games.”

Vardy played no part against Birmingham as he is currently nursing an injury, but he saw his team-mates have the last laugh without him. Leicester fans revelled in their success, with chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” also aimed in the direction of Rooney – who has suffered defeat in seven of his 11 games as Birmingham manager.
