Vincent Kompany closing on first Bayern Munich transfer – Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha poised to join Harry Kane & Co at the Allianz Arena

Fulham midfielder Palhinha looked set to sign for Bayern last August, only for the move to collapse at the final hurdle. The Portuguese shrugged off that disappointment and impressed for the Cottagers again and it seems the Bundesliga side are keen to push for him once more. Now, reports in Germany suggest the 28-year-old could move to the Allianz Arena this week.

Fabrizio Romano claims personal terms have been agreed with Palhinha and the fee could be in the region of £38 million ($48.5m). This could be quite the coup for Kompany, who needs to hit the ground running at Bayern as there have been question marks over his appointment following his inability to keep Burnley in the Premier League.

The Portugal star joined Fulham from Sporting Lisbon in 2022 for £20m ($25.4m) and since then the 6ft 3in defensive midfielder, who has also had loan spells at Moreirense, Belenense and Braga in his home country, has played 79 times and scored eight goals.

While transfer negotiations continue behind the scenes, Palhinha will hope to feature as much as possible when Portugal begin their Euro 2024 campaign this month. Roberto Martinez's side face the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Georgia in their group.
