VIDEO: Conor McGregor turns out for Irish pub team as 'Notorious' UFC star flies into challenges, grapples opponents and nearly scores screamer

The ‘Notorious’ MMA superstar continues to take a break from life inside the Octagon, but has been keeping himself busy. McGregor is a football fan, with allegiance pledged to various teams – including Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool, along with Scottish heavyweights Celtic - and continues to be linked with various takeover bids.

For now, he has turned his attention towards on-field matters, with the 36-year-old turning out for a team named after The Black Forge pub that he owns. Unsurprisingly, McGregor looked to put his physical qualities to good use while sporting No.11 on his back.

At one point, after losing the ball, McGregor lunged into a tackle studs first. He also booted an opponent in the stomach when attempting a shot, but came close to scoring a spectacular winner in a game then ended 1-1 as he lobbed a half-volley onto the top of the crossbar from 20 yards out.

Fans on social media have enjoyed watching the clips of McGregor in action, with his performance as chaotic as expected. One said: "The type of tackles I would expect him to make." Others added "can see why he picked fighting" and "McGregor playing footy is the funniest thing ever."

McGregor, who is seeing a fight with Logan Paul or KSI speculated on, will be back in spectator role on Sunday when he joins the millions tuning in from around the world to catch United’s FA Cup third-round clash with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
