Gregg Berhalter has made his final selections for his 2022 World Cup squad.

The USMNT will be at the World Cup for the 11th time in their history, back after they failed to qualify for the 2018 edition in Russia altogether.

Gregg Berhalter and his men will be desperate to make amends for that performance by going far in Qatar and they sure have the talent to spring a surprise.

Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna and Weston McKennie were easy selections, but there were also some shocks from Berhalter's announcement.

These 26 players were picked make the trip to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar...

  • Matt Turner Arsenal 2022

    GOALKEEPERS

Zack Steffen was surprisingly left out, giving Matt Turner a clear path to start. Berhalter had preferred the Manchester City keeper, who is currently on loan at Middlesbrough, before injury issues gave Arsenal's summer signing an opportunity.

Sean Johnson and Ethan Horvath get the back-up responsibilities.

    DEFENDERS

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Aaron Long and Walker Zimmerman are prime candidates to slot in as options at centre-back in Qatar, while Miles Robinson is out with injury.

Experienced defender John Brooks has been iced out of the squad by Berhalter and was not picked.

Out wide, Sergino Dest seems a certainty to start, with his move from Barcelona to Milan helping him regain match fitness after he struggled for game time at Camp Nou.

Sam Vines and Chris Richards, meanwhile, have been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

    MIDFIELDERS

Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, Brendan Aaronson and Tyler Adams are the stars of Berhalter's midfield for the World Cup, and there are some solid depth pieces behind them.

In particular, Luca de la Torre and Kellyn Acosta.

    ATTACKERS

Chelsea star Pulisic is set to lead the USMNT attack at the World Cup in Qatar, even if the versatile attacker has been struggling somewhat at club level.

Gio Reyna will be providing additional creativity should he remain healthy, with the BVB wonderkid showing in recent weeks that he's back to his usual best after overcoming a series of injury problems.

Tim Weah and Brenden Aaronson are also candidates to start out wide as the USMNT has plenty of options in attack, though the nation has interestingly listed Aaronson as a midfielder in its squad announcement.

Ricardo Pepi and Jordan Pefok were the most notable snubs.

  • STRONGEST XI

With Turner in goal, Berhalter may be looking at a back-four of Dest, Zimmerman, Long and Antonee Robinson in front of the Arsenal goalkeeper.

Musah, Adams and McKennie look like they form the most solid midfield base, behind the attacking trio of Weah, Sargent and Pulisic.

That leaves the likes of Reyna, Aaronson and Ferreira on the bench, with the creative trio a great option to come on and make a difference late in the game.

USA XI (4-3-3): Turner; Dest, Zimmerman, Long, A. Robinson; Musah, Adams, McKennie; Weah, Sargent, Pulisic

  • Chris Richards 2022-23

    NOTABLE ABSENTEES

Crystal Palace defender Chris Richard's World Cup dreams came to an abrupt end in early November as he announced the leg injury he suffered in late August would keep him out of the tournament.
