  • USA beat Jamaica 3-1
  • But fortunate to win game
  • Wynalda calls on players to be ruled out of Copa America contention
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The USA were fortunate to snatch victory at the death against Jamaica having been particularly sub-par for much of the 90 minutes. Haji Wright won the game for the USA in injury time and they ran out eventual 3-1 victors in a scoreline irreflective of the performance. Ahead of the USA competing at the Copa America this summer, Wynalda has called on tough decisions to be made.

    WHAT WYNALDA SAID

Posting on X, Wynalda said: "I’m rewatching the US Jamaica game. It’s not as bad as it felt watching it live but still there are glaring issues. We could eliminate players from ever contending for a roster spot at Copa America after this game."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

As Wynalda suggests, there will have to be some important decisions on who makes the squad ahead of the tournament. The main cause for concern is in the midfield where the previously impressive trio of Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah may be changed to accommodate Gio Reyna, who came off the bench to provide two assists on Thursday.

    WHAT NEXT FOR USA?

The USMNT face off against Mexico on Sunday determined to make amends for their near blushes against Jamaica. Wynalda will be watching on to see if those strugglers can turn their fortunes around.
