<p>Old Trafford has become infamous for its inability to keep out water during rainy matches. Last season against Arsenal<a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/old-trafford-flooded-video-impact-of-downpour-manchester-united-fans-watch-water-gush-through-stadium/bltd0c77bb5f0ce88ac" target="_blank"> water began cascading down the roof </a>of one of the stands during a thunderstorm. And the shoddy conditions at the Premier League's biggest stadiums again came under the spotlight last month when <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/rats-inside-old-trafford-dead-rodent-man-utd-europa-league-restaurant-infestation/blt6abbefe0ceea2004" target="_blank">a fan discovered a dead rodent underneath their seat.</a></p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>United have just finished consulting fans over the redevelopment of Old Trafford, which received its last major upgrade in 2006. A decision on whether the club will renovate the stadium or build a brand new arena will be made next year. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe favours constructing a 100,000-seater stadium on the site adjacent to Old Trafford which has been dubbed <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-planning-demolish-old-trafford-build-2bn-wembley-of-the-north-100-000-seater-stadium-major-u-turn/bltcf4e1a9984ae75f2" target="_blank">'The Wembley of the North'.</a> United, who will spend Christmas Day in the bottom half of the table for the first time since 1989, are next in action on December 26 away to Wolves.</p>
