  • Hollywood stars calling the shots in North Wales
  • Can often be seen mingling with playing staff
  • Made impressive impact on and off the field
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Deadpool star Reynolds has, while filming the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary, highlighted how often he considers Red Dragons striker Palmer to be walking around with no shirt on. He addressed that issue when wife Blake Lively paid a visit to SToK Racecourse, but Palmer says Reynolds and fellow co-chairman Rob McElhenney have nothing to worry about when it comes to body image.

    WHAT PALMER SAID

Palmer has told the Men In Blazers podcast: “What’s with all the topless things? Is that because of Mr Reynolds always telling me I’ve got my shirt off? He loves a big, sweaty cuddle! To be fair I think Rob McElhenney has got a better body, and probably Ryan now that he has been filming Deadpool, than most of the lads anyway so they haven’t got to worry about us having our tops off!”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Palmer is loving his time with Hollywood superstars in North Wales and added on the work Reynolds and McElhenney do that can go unnoticed: “Before, the youth team and academy used to wear their kit and had to hand it back and kind of sharing and borrowing. The owners actually bought the whole academy in each age group a kit each. It’s just things like that people don’t know about. They changed the infrastructure of the football club and are running it like a top level football club. That’s justice to everyone in this community. It is followed like a Championship club, just because it’s limited with the size of the stadium, but ultimately we are followed like a Premier League team. The away support we’ve got is incredible. Home and away, full house week in, week out and it’s only right the club is run how it is. They have done an unbelievable job behind the scenes. It’s a great place to go into work.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Wrexham swept their way to the National League title in record-breaking style last season – earning an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas courtesy of Reynolds and McElhenney – and Phil Parkinson now has his side within touching distance of top spot in League Two.
