Robert Lewandowski to miss El Clasico! Barcelona's fears are confirmed as star striker suffers lengthy injury to keep him out of Copa del Rey final with Real Madrid

Lewandowski has been in fine goalscoring form for Barcelona this season, as the legendary Polish striker has scored 40 goals in 48 games in all competitions for the Catalan side. However, on Saturday afternoon, amidst Hansi Flick's side's comeback against Celta Vigo, Lewandowski had to be taken off after he seemed to tweak a muscle in his hamstring. Early reports had suggested that there was pessimism in the dressing room regarding the 36-year-old's injury as the club feared he had suffered a muscle injury.

Barcelona's fears have now been proven true as the Catalan side have now confirmed that Lewandowski has 'suffered an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his left thigh'. The severity of the injury and the progression of his rehabilitation will mean that the Polish striker is likely to miss around three weeks of action for Barcelona.

Considering the timeline regarding Lewandowski's recuperation, Barcelona will be without their superstar striker for their crucial Champions League semi-final first-leg against Inter Milan and their Copa del Rey final against bitter rivals Real Madrid next weekend. Luckily for Flick, he has received the service of Dani Olmo yet again after he was declared fit last week, and Ferran Torres is in fine form for the Blaugrana. However, Lewandowski's connection with Raphinha and Lamine Yamal will be sorely missed by the side over the course of the next few weeks.
