Madrid's struggles in 2012-13 have been well-chronicled at this point. It was the year when Jose Mourinho left the club in dramatic fashion, making a conscious effort to burn every bridge possible before he departed by "mutual consent" the following summer.

Still, there were some positives here. Los Blancos beat Barcelona three times, signed Luka Modric, and got 55 goals out of Ronaldo.

This should have been a memorable season. Sure, some of the famous Galacticos were past their best, but Ronaldo and Raul remained world-class. That Zidane guy wasn't bad, either. Add a prime Michael Owen, and all the ingredients were there for a La Liga win. It didn't quite go to plan, with Los Blancos falling short of Barcelona by four points.

European success was similarly elusive, as Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League in the last 16 to an excellent Juventus side.

Madrid were enduring a tricky first half to the 2015-16 season when they brought Zidane in to manage the first team. And the club legend took over a top-tier squad with aplomb. Los Blancos battered Europe, with the famous Benzema-Bale-Ronaldo attacking trio leading Madrid to a famous 11th Champions League title.

Any other year, and Madrid would have been celebrating a double. However, a rampant Barcelona side pipped them to the league title by just a single point.

The 1998-99 season was something of an underwhelming campaign for Los Blancos, and they tried to amend that with a series of signings for the next year. And they did so with aplomb.

Madrid spent big in the transfer market while Raul came into his own as a goalscorer. It all amounted to a team primed for European glory. And they delivered, winning the 2000 Champions League, battering Valencia in the final.

Gareth Bale scored two incredible goals in major finals suring his time at Madrid. Although his bicycle kick against Liverpool may be the best in terms of technique, this one was arguably more important. With Madrid searching for a winner against Barcelona, the Welsh winger sprinted around a languid Marc Bartra, taking the ball nearly 70 yards and finishing to cap off a memorable Copa del Rey final.

Their Champions League win was similarly dramatic, with Sergio Ramos heading in a 93rd-minute equaliser as Los Blancos saw off Atletico to capture 'La Decima'.

Madrid finished second a lot this year. They fell short of Athletic Club in La Liga, and lost a whopping four finals to mark a season of disappointment.

But this kit was the start of a long and fruitful partnership with adidas. The first one was a beauty, with the classic trefoil emblem complementing the all-white strip perfectly.

Not a bad side, this. There's a lot of mythology around how this team came together. Still, Alfredo Di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas and co ripped through La Liga and Europe as part of one of the best teams of all time.

It was also the birth of the all-white kit proper. For most Madridistas, this shirt is really where it all began.

The paw prints were banned in Europe, which is a bit unfair. But at least we will always have them on Madrid's league shirts. They looked a bit odd, but absolutely worked.

And some of the names to wear this kit weren't bad, either. Madrid lined up with the likes of Raul, Clarence Seedorf and Roberto Carlos, winning La Liga by two points.

Mourinho's second season in charge at the Bernabeu was one of the best in Madrid's history, and it has since been referred to as "The League of the Records." Los Blancos scored 121 goals, 60 of which came from a rampant Ronaldo.

They lost only twice in La Liga, and reached 100 points, completing a campaign that arguably hasn't been beaten. And that gold kit, too...

It was always going to be this one, wasn't it? The all-white, the Galacticos, THAT Zidane volley to win the Champions League.

The 2002 kit marked the club's centenary and took everything back to basics. Gone was the sponsor, forgotten were the fancy splashes of colour. A white shirt, black accents, and a traditional badge. Unforgettable.
