    Samir Nurkovic - Kaizer Chiefs

    The Serbian hitman quickly established himself as one of the best strikers in the country in his debut PSL season having joined Kaizer Chiefs from Slovak club KFC Komarno in July 2019.

    A target man who tends to put his strength and aerial ability to use, Nurkovic hit the back of the net 13 times and his goals helped maintain Amakhosi's PSL title charge.

    Nurkovic won the PSL's Goal of the Month for December 2019 and he also caught the eye with his creativity, having recorded six assists in the league.

    Themba Zwane - Mamelodi Sundowns

    The skillful attacker enjoyed his best season in the PSL and he was one of the reasons why Mamelodi Sundowns clinched their third successive PSL title.

    An unselfish player with good playmaking skills, good technique, dribbling skills and an eye for goals, Zwane was Masandawana's top scorer in the league having netted 11 goals.

    The Bafana Bafana international was also one of the most creative players with seven league assists and he is expected to be nominated for the PSL Footballer of the Season award.

    Frank Mhango - Orlando Pirates

    The diminutive forward re-established himself as one of the best players in the country having almost single-handedly inspired Orlando Pirates to a top-three finish in the league. 

    Blessed with electrifying speed and a sharp finish, Mhango netted 13 goals between November 2019 and January 2020 and at this point, Bucs looked like potential PSL title contenders. 

    The Malawi international was named PSL Player of the Month for January 2020 and some have called for him to be nominated for the Footballer of the Season accolade. 

  4. Lebogang Manyama - Kaizer Chiefs January 2020

    The experienced midfielder-come-striker was one of the most outstanding players in the league and he was the driving force behind Kaizer Chiefs' title charge.

    Known for his ability to create and score goals, Manyama registered the league's joint-most assists (nine) and he also netted six goals in the process. 

    Manyama is most likely to be nominated for the PSL Footballer of the Season award for the second time, having won the accolade at the end of the 2016/17 campaign. 

  5. Peter Shalulile of Highlands Park, August 2020

    Peter Shalulile - Highlands Park

    The speedy 27-year-old striker enjoyed his breakout season in the PSL and he was a reliable goalscorer for Highlands Park.

    His ability to finish clinically made him one of the best strikers in the league as he netted 16 goals and he became the first Namibian player to win the PSL Golden Boot award.

    However, it is his second Golden Boot award in South Africa having scooped the 2017/18 National First Division (NFD) top scorer accolade after netting 15 goals.
