Pep Guardiola brings Boston Celtics good luck as Jayson Tatum and Co earn 1-0 NBA Finals lead against Dallas Mavericks as Man City boss watches on

In the build-up to Game 1 of the NBA finals on Thursday, Manchester City boss Guardiola was seen deep in conversation with Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. Hours later, he was in the stands to see Boston ease to a 107-89 home win, with Jaylen Brown top scoring for the hosts with 22 points. Incidentally, Guardiola was seen smiling serenely with a Boston Celtics jersey following the victory at TD Garden.

Guardiola has spoken in the past about learning from tennis and basketball and trying to use that knowledge to help his football teams. Celtics coach Mazzulla, 35, has a similar mindset and if he continues on his current trajectory, he could be an all-time great - just as Guardiola is.

Along with a photo and a quick gif of the former Barcelona boss, the NBA tweeted: "@mancity manager Pep Guardiola courtside for the @celtics Game 1 Win! ⚽️ #NBAFinals presented by YouTube TV."

Boston host Game 2 of the best-of-seven series on Sunday. It remains to be seen if ex-Bayern Munich boss Guardiola, who led City to a record fourth-straight Premier League title last month, will be in attendance again.
