  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Per The Times, the English manager will receive 'hundreds of thousands of pounds' in payment as soon as Everton's Premier League status is secure mathematically. The Toffees parted ways with Dyche after the club's 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on January 4. At the time of the departure, the team were two places and one point above the relegation zone. The money that is due to Dyche is part of a deferred element of the settlement that was struck with the new owners, The Friedkin Group (TFG).

    The report adds that at the time of his departure, Dyche had informed management he had led the team as far as he could within the financial constraints and Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) concerns. TFG chose to defer the payment to protect the club from further financial woes, in case they got relegated at the end of the season. However, once their place in the top flight is secured, they will process the ex-coach's due payment.

    Dyche was immediately replaced by David Moyes, who returned to the club after more than a decade away. Under the Scottish coach, Everton have seen a huge rise in form and are unbeaten in five games, out of which they have won four. They have moved up to 14th place now, one spot above Manchester United.
