    WHAT HAPPENED?

The Welsh outfit have seen their profile soar throughout the world since welcoming Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to the club as co-owners in the spring of 2021. They have invited famous friends over to the United Kingdom to take in the Wrexham experience, with the likes of Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd among those to have witnessed action-packed games.

  • WHAT MULLIN SAID

Star striker Mullin has told the Men in Blazers podcast when asked which visitor would leave him starstruck, as well as what it is like to rub shoulders with A-listers: “My mum or my dad, they are the only two people that I would be starstruck if they came into the changing room! There isn’t… anyone can turn up. I’m not one of those people, I’m not overawed by celebrities or public status. Everyone is just a human being. If you’re a nice person, you’re a nice person. If you’re not, you’re not. That’s just the way I roll. We have become accustomed now to welcoming A-list celebrities to the stadium. It’s something that obviously brings some enjoyment because you walk out sometimes and Will Ferrell is stood in the changing room and it’s sort of a ‘what’s going on moment’, but it’s also something we want to become accustomed to and smile and laugh about.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

After seeing Salt Bae’s name thrown into the mix – with the famous Turkish chef having courted controversy at the 2022 World Cup final when joining Lionel Messi and Argentina’s triumphant squad on the pitch in Qatar - Mullin said: “I hope not!”

That may be because Mullin is more partial to fast food than gold-plated steaks, with the prolific striker saying of how he celebrated Wrexham’s promotion back into the Football League last season: “We went to McDonald’s and they managed to give us them [chicken nuggets] for nothing – even though I’m still waiting for my gold card from them!”

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Wrexham are hoping to have cause for more celebration in 2023-24, with the club’s owners making no secret of the fact that they want to reach the Premier League at some stage. Mullin added on how the players are facing that challenge: “One game at a time, it’s very cliché. Rob can say that in five years because he’s probably still going to be the owner in five years. Who knows if we’re still going to be here in five years.

"Football moves quick. If we got to the Premier League, there might not be as many of us left in the team by that point. Hopefully that’s the case. For us, it’s about doing as well as we can in each and every game. Make sure you are selected for the next game and then come the end of the season, 46-game round trip and if you’ve been the best team in 46 of them, then I’m pretty sure you will be getting promoted. Then you enjoy that and when you come back it’s back to basics and back to work. You have to try and do it again. It’s one day at a time for us.”

WHAT NEXT FOR MULLIN & WREXHAM?

Wrexham sit fourth in the League Two table at present, within touching distance of the automatic promotion places. They are hoping to be treated like A-list celebrities themselves next summer after already enjoying one all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas that was put in place by Reynolds and McElhenney.
