Oakland Roots SC celebrate The Town’s diversity with their new 2023 jerseys

USL Championship team Oakland Roots SC unveil their first and second kits ahead of the upcoming 2023 season. With diversity, community, and inclusion at the forefront of the jersey design, the new kits mark the third year of the club’s community partnership with Anthem Blue Cross, continuing the duo's commitment to strengthening the local community.

Taking a new direction to last year's kits - with new kit manufacturer MEYBA - the jersey inspiration looks back to the heritage of the club. Chief Marketing Officer Edreece Arghandiwal shares, “We are always looking to tell stories of our history, and this year's kits are celebrating the mosaic in our crest, the diversity of The Town, and it reminds all of us about why we do what we do here in Oakland…to spread love and be a club where all people are welcome.”

The mosaic in the crest, Arghandiwal mentions, is brought to life on the sleeves of the jersey, as well as the player number on the back. The kit maintains a sleek look that gives a nod to the first-ever Oakland Roots SC jersey released in 2019. 

“The entire MEYBA organization is delighted to be Oakland’s official kit supplier, the release of Oakland Roots SC’s 2023 first and second kits, is a date we have all been waiting for,” shared Jonathan Jones, MEYBA Global Head of Marketing on the new partnership.

The kits have been designed to hold value off the pitch as they do on it, with Jones adding, “Oakland is an amazing city, and Roots are a very special team. Working in partnership, we are proud to unveil kits the whole city can be proud of, as we know we certainly are.”
