No farewell tour for Kevin De Bruyne! Man City star set to snub Club World Cup and seek early exit in effort to finalise move to new club

A report from the Daily Star has suggested the 33-year-old wants to skip the tournament, as he's worried an injury could scupper his next move. De Bruyne's deal ends on the 30th June, and there are hints that the player has been angered by the decision to let him walk.

De Bruyne is obliged to play, as the tournament starts on the 14th June. City have the right to extend his deal by a further two weeks, should they progress into the latter stages of the event and onto the final on the 13th July. The Belgian is expected to hold talks with the club, in the hopes they will allow him the opportunity to take a break and prioritise his next step.

The inaugural Club World Cup will feature 32 teams from across the globe. City will play against Moroccan side Wydad AC, AFC Champions League winners Al-Ain, and Juventus in the group stages.

If De Bruyne doesn't turn out for the Sky Blues in the States, he potentially only has eight games left to play for the club. This weekend, the 33-year-old will be key to City's hopes of qualifying for another final, as they take on Nottingham Forest in the semi finals of the FA Cup.
