Nicolas Jackson 'on verge' of leaving Chelsea as fresh exit route emerges after Bayern drop interest

Jackson has been told he can leave Chelsea by manager Enzo Maresca. The striker is training with the first-team squad but will not be involved in matches, with Maresca preferring summer recruits such as Joao Pedro and Liam Delap instead. Jackson is now said to be "on the verge" of leaving and is being closely monitored by Aston Villa, according to reporter Florian Plettenberg. Bayern Munich had been linked with Jackson but will not now be making a move for the Senegal star.

Newcastle are also said to hold interest in Jackson as they looked at potential replacement options for Alexander Isak. The Swede is eager to join Liverpool and is adamant he won't play for the club again. With Jackson having been told he's out of Maresca's plans for the future, the forward will be eager to secure a move before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

Napoli have also targeted Jackson after losing Romelu Lukaku to a serious injury. Antonio Conte's side have Jackson on a transfer shortlist along with Manchester United duo Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Chelsea are back in Premier League action on Friday against West Ham. Jackson will again be watching from the sidelines unless he can secure a move away from Stamford Bridge in the meantime.
