Salah put pen to paper on a new two-year contract at Anfield recently, putting an end to speculation over his future. He is now believed to be earning around £400,000 a week, which represents a £50,000 increase on his last deal.

However, it appears Liverpool will press ahead with plans to freshen up their frontline regardless. The Sun report that the Reds have been impressed by the performances of Mbeumo, who like Salah is a left-footed forward who primarily plays from the right. Arne Slot could be allowed to spend £200m this summer as he looks to build a dynasty on Merseyside, and it's estimated Cameroon international Mbeumo would cost in the region of £50m.

Mbeumo bagged a brace in Brentford's 4-2 victory against Brighton on Saturday to take his Premier League tally to 18 for the season - only Salah, Erling Haaland and Alexander Isak have better returns so far this term.

Liverpool are on the verge of wrapping up the Premier League title and could be crowned champions as soon as Sunday. For that to happen, they would need to beat Leicester at the King Power Stadium, while Arsenal must also lose away at Ipswich.
