'Trust me!' - Mauricio Pochettino fires warning to Chelsea over handling of rising star Cole Palmer amid managerial uncertainty

Palmer has skyrocketed to international fame amid his excellent performances for the Blues since joining from Manchester City last summer. The attacking midfielder has scored 23 goals in all competitions for the London club, establishing him as one of the country's most promising young players.

The 21-year-old's newfound fame has sparked concerns about his ability to handle the attention. However, having dealt with similar situations with the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli at Tottenham, Pochettino believes he and his staff will help keep the England international grounded, despite speculation that the Argentine could be sacked amid Chelsea's disappointing results this season.

He told reporters: "He needs to deal with new things. It is not a criticism. It is about saying that they will appear – different things which he will need to deal with and manage and of course, he needs to know how to deal and learn how to deal with this new situation. That is part of our job, as a coaching staff. That is the important thing. We need to help his environment. Him, but his environment also to understand how to deal. We have the experience as a coaching staff to deal with things like this. Also the club needs to trust in our judgement and assessment. The clubs need to trust. If they do not trust in us, it is difficult to work."

Palmer will attempt to improve his scoring record by causing an upset against his former team when Chelsea take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday. He scored in his first game against Pep Guardiola's team earlier this season as they played out a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge.
