Who will shine for K'Ogalo vs Ingwe?

Goal analyses players who can have an impact for the reigning champions against their bitter rivals in the domestic cup final.

  • Gad Mathews of Gor Mahia vs Nairobi City Stars.Goal Kenya.

    Gad Mathews

The former Kariobangi Sharks goalkeeper is having a good season at K’Ogalo that has seen him take command of the starting role ahead of veteran Boniface Oluoch, who is now warming the bench.

Mathews is the reason Gor reached the domestic cup final, having saved two penalties in the quarter-final clash against his former side Sharks and he will be the key man to push the team to the trophy they last won in 2008.

  • Harun Shakava of Gor Mahia vs Mathare United.Mathare United.

    Harun Shakava

Since making a comeback to the team after terminating his contract with Nkana FC of Zambia, Shakava has managed to stabilise K’Ogalo’s defence which had already conceded 21 goals in 12 matches in all competitions.

“Shakes”, as he is commonly referred to, has massive experience in the back four and it will be vital for him to organise his defenders well and ensure every player is in position and that there are no mistakes at the back.

  • Yema Mwana of Bandari FC and Charles Momanyi of Gor Mahia.Goal Kenya.

    Charles Momanyi

The central defender will partner a familiar face at the back, and it will be a massive boost psychologically if they manage to get a positive result against the sworn enemies.

Just like Shakava, Momanyi will have to ensure every defender is doing his job effectively and he will also have to ensure he stops Ingwe from getting close to their goalkeeper to avoid conceding.

  • Gor Mahia captain Kenneth Muguna.Gor Mahia..

    Kenneth Muguna

Despite being stripped off the club’s captaincy role, the 25-year-old has remained one of the most consistent players in the top-tier and rarely disappoints in big games. He will have to ensure there is good coordination from the defence all the way to the attack.

The 2016 FKF-Premier League’s Most Valuable Player will also have to create chances for his team and take those that come his way. On his day, Muguna is simply unplayable and Gor Mahia fans hope that day is Sunday.

  • Gor Mahia striker Jules Ulimwengu scores.Goal Kenya.

    Jules Ulimwengu

In the absence of towering striker Tito Okello who is out after testing positive for the Covid-19 virus, the Burundi attacker who joined Gor Mahia at the beginning of the season and took less time to settle, will be the key man to lead the attacking line.

Ulimwengu should give his best to get behind the defenders and take his chances well, he has the ability to create goals for his fellow strikers and the 21-year-old will also have to help the defenders when under attack.
